Physiotherapy
Initial assessment and treatment
Allow up to 1 hour £75
This first session is to hear your story. I want to understand how your pain began, how it has progressed over time and how it affects you now. I also want to know your future goals, what you are missing out on and what you want to get back to.
Listening takes time, so we rightly devote time to it.
I will also assess how you move; your confidence to move; and your strength and condition in relation to the area of your pain.
When experiencing pain, we move differently, we often tense or guard our muscles to protect the painful area. It is useful to understand which of these adaptations are helpful, and which no longer serve you.
As part of our treatment plan I will help you to understand why you are in pain, what is contributing to your ongoing pain and together we will design a road map to move away from your pain.
Sometimes, hands on techniques are required to assist you in trusting your body again.
Often, rehabilitation exercises are needed to restore the strength and condition of the area where you experience pain.
Whichever form of treatment is right for you, it is my aim that you will have a clear idea of what you can do to help yourself moving forward.
Follow up session
30 minutes £50
At each follow up session we review our progress since the previous session and we continue with, or adapt, your treatment plan accordingly.
Deep tissue massage
30 minutes £50
Letting go of tension in muscles and fascia can be challenging, particularly if movement patterns of bracing or holding have been long ingrained. Deep tissue massage can assist in the letting go. By increasing blood flow, improving circulation, mobilising trigger points and releasing endorphins, massage can allow the brain a break in the pain cycle, enabling the restoration of ‘normal’ pain free movement once more.
